Saipan, CNMI – It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of former Chief Judge Alex R. Munson of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands. Judge Munson dedicated more than four decades of judicial service to the people of the Northern Mariana Islands and the broader Micronesian region.
“Chief Judge Munson served the people of the Marianas with fairness, respect, and deep humanity,” said Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro. “He brought a steady hand to every courtroom he entered, and his influence on our legal community will endure for generations. We are profoundly grateful for his decades of dedication to the rule of law in our islands.”
Justice John A. Manglona added: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Chief Judge Munson. His careful stewardship of the judiciary during pivotal years in our Commonwealth’s history helped lay the foundation for the strong and independent judicial system we have today. We honor his life, his service, and the example he set for all who follow in his footsteps.”
Our sympathy goes out to his family.
