Deputy Clerk of Court

The Clerk of the Supreme Court is the public office and record keeper for the Commonwealth Supreme Court and assists the Supreme Court in carrying out other constitutional responsibilities. The Clerk of Supreme Court is primarily responsible for maintaining the Court’s case management by docketing appeals and petitions; ensuring documents are in compliance with court rules; accepting or rejecting document filings; disseminating all orders, decisions, and opinions of the Court; and scheduling oral arguments.

The Supreme Court is the court of last resort with the authority to affirm, modify, vacate, set aside or reverse a Superior Court judgment, order or decree. 1 CMC § 3103. Preview the cases pending before the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court issues orders and opinions throughout the year. Published orders and opinions are readily accessible at www.cnmilaw.org.

Supreme Court law clerks research case law, prepare memoranda, draft orders and opinions, and perform other administrative duties under the direction of a justice. They also assist with community outreach programs. 

The National Center for State Courts annually compiles the Court Statistics Project that gives judges and court administrators a national perspective on court operations. Oral arguments before the Supreme Court are held quarterly and are open to the public. 

All appellate filings are electronically filed and served through File & ServeXpress.
