NMI Judiciary Participates at Safer Courts National Convening
Saipan, CNMI – Court leaders from all 50 states and U.S. territories came together at the Safer Courts Initiative led by the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) in Atlanta, Georgia on October 25-27, 2026, to strengthen the safety and security of courts across the nation.
Justice John A. Manglona led the Commonwealth Judiciary delegation, which included Director of Courts Sonia A. Camacho, General Counsel Matthew Brown and Deputy Marshal Roemar Segotier. They joined nearly 300 justices, court administrators and court security personnel to discuss best practices, recommended court security standards and effective threat management strategies. The convening, the first of three phases to be held in the next two years, included expert presentations, panel discussions, and interactive work sessions.
“The Judiciary is committed to fostering courthouses that are safe and secure for all,” said Justice Manglona. “We are grateful to the National Center for State Courts for sponsoring the convention and assisting our courts to meet the evolving security challenges.”
The convening is primarily funded by NCSC’s State Justice Institute Strategic Initiatives Grant.
