Saipan, CNMI – On March 11, 2026, members of the CNMI America250 Commission met with the Judiciary leadership at the Guma’ Hustisia to discuss the Commission’s upcoming podcast project commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Covenant. Attendees included Commission Chairman Leo Pangelinan, Vice Chair and Senator Corina Magofna, Podcast Project Lead Grace Naputi, Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro, Justice John A. Manglona, Judge Lillian A. Tenorio, and Director of Courts Sonia A. Camacho.

The Commission seeks the Judiciary’s participation in the podcast series, which will feature high school students and guests from across the community in conversations about the ten articles of the Covenant between the Northern Mariana Islands and the United States. Justice John A. Manglona and Judge Lillian A. Tenorio will lead the episode focusing on Article IV, which addresses the Judicial Branch.
“The podcast offers our students and community a valuable chance to reconnect with the foundations of our Covenant. We’re especially excited to talk about Article IV of the Covenant and the role of justice in shaping our islands,” said Justice Manglona. “It’s a conversation we view is essential to share with the next generation.”
The CNMI America250 Commission was established to plan and coordinate events in the Northern Marianas for the nationwide celebration of the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence on July 4, 2026. The Commission aims to ensure the Commonwealth plays a meaningful role by organizing cultural, educational, and civic activities that bring the community together and honor the islands’ shared history.
The Commission expects to launch the podcast mid-April.
