Saipan, CNMI — On September 24, 2026, third-year law student Josephine Estrada-Jones, an alumna of the Judiciary’s Summer Pre-Law Program, competed as a finalist in Syracuse University College of Law's 55th Annual Mackenzie Hughes LLP Edmund H. Lewis Appellate Advocacy Competition.

Estrada-Jones and teammate Emily DenHaese represented Respondent United States. The moot court case centered on two issues: whether people have a privacy interest in prescription records stored in a state database and whether law enforcement can access those records without a warrant under exceptions to the Fourth Amendment. The duo earned second place and won the best brief award for their written advocacy.

Estrada-Jones, who was Justice John A. Manglona’s Judicial Assistant while employed at the Supreme Court, also serves as President of Syracuse University College of Law's Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, with honors, from the Northern Marianas College and University of Guam.
