Saipan, MP — The Judiciary will be hosting its 3rd Annual Commonwealth Cultural Day celebration at the Guma’ Hustisia on Friday, October 6, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will showcase cultural discussions and a wide range of historical exhibits, handicrafts, and displays from the Marianas, Micronesia, Polynesia, Asia, the United States, and Europe.
This year, the Judiciary Historical Society, in collaboration with Northern Marianas College, will sponsor the Customs, Traditions & the Law Fiyóng ● Kombetsasion. The forum will highlight how the customs and traditions of Refaluwasch and Chamorro communities may arise in the context of the judicial system. The panelists are community members who possess personal knowledge of indigenous customs and traditions in the Marianas.
The Refaluwasch Fiyóng will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by the Chamorro Konbetsasion from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will be livestreamed on the Judiciary Facebook page and a recording of the forums will be provided by Northern Marianas College. Over 150 school children, attorneys from CNMI Bar Association, and members of the public have already registered to attend.
The Cultural Day events and activities are open to the public.
